The Story

The Jaguar XK is a 4-seater coupe (2 + 2), presented as its first generation in March 1996 as a replacement for the XJS model, and which remained in production from 1996 until 2014, when its production was ceased having seen two generations of the model during this time.

The second generation that remained in production from 2009 until 2014 – with internal design code X150 – was designed by Ian Callum, responsible for the design of such special models as the Aston Martin Vanquish and the Aston Martin DB7, explaining the more than reasonable similarity in the design of the three models: Vanquish, DB7 and Jaguar XK.

The second generation Jaguar XK was one of the pioneers in introducing a monocoque body entirely of aluminum. Opposite to what is usual, the convertible XK model was developed first, and the coupe model based its design on this convertible.

With this second generation, Jaguar introduced the XKR variant which was equipped with an impressive supercharged V8 engine that delivers 510 hp at 6.500 rpm in conjunction with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

It was also a pioneer in the introduction of a safety system in case of collisions with a pedestrian, which consists of a system that, by means of sensors located on the front, elevates the hood a few centimeters in thousandths of a second in the event of a collision with a pedestrian, creating a shock absorber effect between hood and engine and moving the pedestrian away from the hardest parts of the engine.

Due to this, and also for including an active system in the front bumper that helps mitigate leg injuries through the use of deformable foams and a plastic cover, the Jaguar XK was awarded the Engineering and Technology Award in the prestigious “Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards” in London.

The Jaguar XKR that we present today for sale on DeliCARtessen was registered in Spain on January 2009 to its first owner. The chosen color combination was a spectacular red color for the outside (Salsa Red), in contrast to an elegant interior upholstery in beige leather, that creates a really balanced combination of elegance and sportiness.

The car left the factory with the following list of equipment:

  • Bi-xenon headlights with headlight washers
  • LED tail lights
  • 20” wheels especially for this Supercharged version
  • Automatic transmission with paddles on the steering wheel and Sport mode
  • GPS navigation
  • Upgradeable maps on DVD
  • Bluetooth connection
  • Electric adjustable front seats with memory and lumbar and lateral adjustment
  • Heated and cooled front seats
  • Heated leather steering wheel
  • Leather upholstery
  • ISOFIX on rear seats
  • Multifunction touch screen
  • Bowers & Wilkins Hi-Fi system
  • Windshield with thermal demisting system
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Spare tire with 20” wheel
  • Electric rear-view mirrors, with electric folding and memory
  • Parking help in right mirror
  • Powered windows
  • Radar cruise control (Keeps distance with the preceding vehicle)
  • ESP – ASR anti-slip with possibility of disconnection

The car was acquired and registered to its first owner in the first month of 2009, who owned it for 1 year and 11 months. In December 2010, the car was acquired by its second and current owner who keeps it to this day.

Throughout the history of the car, maintenance services have been performed at official Jaguar dealerships in Madrid. The main milestones of its maintenance are, in chronological order:

  • In March 2010, with 14.348 km, its first oil change and filter service was carried out in official Jaguar dealer C. de Salamanca.
  • In December 2010, when the car had 26.231 km on the clock, a complete service check was done prior to its change of owner at the official Jaguar dealer C. de Salamanca.
  • In July 2012, with 42.321 km, a change of rear brake pads was made.
  • In January 2013, with 47.566 km, the car successfully passed the first ITV.
  • In January 2013, with 47.889 km, a full service type B – according to Jaguar standards – was carried out in the official Jaguar Premier Center dealer, where oil, all filters, water pump, coolant and brake fluid were renewed. Additionally, the rear tires were changed.
  • In January 2015, with 64.986 km, the inspection is carried out in the ITV.
  • In January 2016, with 68.285 km, the rear brake pads and the battery are replaced.
  • In March 2017, with 76.075 km, the inspection is carried out in the ITV.
  • In October 2017, with 79.515 km, the type A maintenance was carried out, where the oil, filters, front brake pads and brake fluid are replaced.

The car equips Pirelli PZero tires in size 255/35 R20 97Y on the front axle, and Dunlop SP Sport in size 285/30 R20 on the rear axle. The tires are in good condition, still having some life ahead.

The last change of front brake pads was made with 79,500 km. In the rear train, the pads were changed with 68,200 km, so in both axes they still have a lot of useful life ahead. The brake discs are those of origin in both axes, and present wear.

The state of the bodywork and paint of the car, as well as the general state of the vehicle is VERY good. It does not show any hits on any panel, and the paint is seen in perfect condition, with a lot of brightness and only has very light marks of use on some panels (light scratches) as you can see later.

The painting is completely original; the car has never been painted. It is shown as is in its current state so as not to fuel suspicions that a recent painting of the car conceals a major blow. Its owner informed us of the possibility of repairing and painting the panels that are necessary to leave the car impeccable in this regard.

Inside the car’s state is magnificent. The leather has no tears or discoloration in any seat, dashboard, controls, steering wheel or upholstery of the doors. Everything inside is perfectly functional, and is in perfect condition. It can only be remarked that the car would need an interior detailing to be absolutely impeccable.

The car remains strictly standard, without any modification on the body or to the interior.

As indicated in the previous paragraph, the only light defects necessary to highlight are some minor scratches on the body, which you can appreciate in the photo gallery at the end of the post.

The impressive 20-inch wheels are in a very good condition, although they also present slight rubbing characteristic of parking too close to curbs.

From the legal point of view, as can be verified in the report extracted from the DGT that would be delivered to the buyer, the vehicle is in a perfectly legal state to drive. It does not show any incidence, and the mileage readings carried out in the different ITV are aligned with the history and invoices contributed by its owner.

Jaguar, as a manufacturer of dream cars, has had absolutely glorious times but also some in which the quality of its models did not fit its history, prestige and/or performance.

In 2008, Jaguar dissociated itself from the Ford group, and became the property of Tata Motors, introducing a necessary renewal of its fleet, offering from that moment and up to the present time, once again models that do justice to the history of the brand.

One of the first models to be offered to the market as a result of that renaissance was the totally renewed Jaguar XK, which now was offered with a design, adjustments, quality and performance according to what the customers expect to receive when they buy one of the most iconic Jaguar models.

There are not many brands that offer a coupe model, with a design as powerful but elegant at the same time, which comes equipped with a performance engine similar to that provided by the Jaguar XK-R thanks to its supercharged V8 engine of 510 hp.

Because all of this and without forgetting the state of conservation and perfectly detailed maintenance history of this particular unit that we present today, we believe it is a very interesting unit for anyone looking for a different car, with a beautiful line, with an interior at the highest level of elegance, but without forgetting a very high performance.

As additional information, the current owner tells us that the car is registered in name of a company and that an invoice could be made, so that the VAT would be deductible.

We leave you with a small video that we have made with images of this unit. After that, you can find an extensive collection of photographs.
