In the middle of the year 2011, the South Korean brand Hyundai begins manufacturing and the commercialization of this peculiar hatchback, with front transverse engine, front-wheel drive and four seats with the striking feature of offering an asymmetrical door configuration. It is the only model that offers a single access on its left side, and two on its right side. It also has a tailgate, so the final configuration would be a hatchback with four doors.
In Europe, Hyundai offered as top of the range its model Veloster Turbo with a 4-cylinder engine, 1.6 T-GDI of 183 hp. But for the American market, said turbo engine had 201 hp, which in Europe was reserved for the Kia Ceed GT model.
The unit that we present here on DeliCARtessen for sale is an American model, therefore of 201 hp, and which owner bought and enjoyed in Florida for two years. Later he personally took care of importing it to Spain, due to a change of residence.
The car was ordered to the factory in Florida, the place of residence of its first and only owner in 2014 and delivered to the official Coastal Hyundai Melbourne dealer. It was ordered in the color “Boston RED”, combined with a black leather interior. The chosen engine was the Turbo version of 201 hp, combined with a six-speed automatic gearbox, with Shiftronic (Sequential Automatic), and with shift paddles on the steering wheel. This option was not available on its European counterpart.
The complete list of equipment for this vehicle is as follows:
The car is legally registered in Spain, having successfully passed the import process. All the parts are the original with which it left the factory, and only one modification had to be performed to comply with Spanish regulations, consisting of the installation of a button for the activation of the rear fog light.
The car has just over 57.000 miles on the clock, which corresponds to approximately 92.000 km traveled in total. As can be seen in the attached photo gallery, the car’s speedometer marks both miles and km/h.
Mechanically, the car is in perfect condition without the need to highlight any damage or failure. The gearbox works correctly and has a smooth and correct operation.
Maintenance on the car has been meticulously carried out when marked by Hyundai, always in official dealers of the brand, both in the United States, and in Spain, even in some occasions carrying out the reviews before the time marked by Hyundai itself.
Recently the car has passed a more extensive maintenance job, in which the brakes, spark plugs and the service belt have been replaced (the car has a distribution chain, which does not need to be replaced). Therefor the car is absolutely up to date mechanically.
The owner has all the receipts corresponding to revisions and maintenance carried out on the car, both of his American period and of his Spanish period.
In addition to this, Hyundai offers a global warranty of 5 years, so this model still has 1 year of official warranty.
From the bodywork point of view, the car is in very good general condition, without showing any bumps or dents of importance.
At the time of photographing the car it had not been done yet, but the owner let us know that in the next few days Hyundai will proceed to change the rear diffuser completely, as it was recently painted and the color code used was not the right one.
As only negative points, we must indicate that the tires have some slight marks from parking, and that the front bumper has some slight damage.
From the legal point of view, and as can be seen in the report extracted from the DGT, the vehicle is perfectly legal to run on the public road. It shows an issue relative to charges, due to the fact that the vehicle is exempt of the local circulation tax for the year 2016.
Its owner indicates that all necessary payments of the car have been made and if any problem may arise during the name change, he will take care of the issue before proceeding with the operation.
In the American version of the Carfax report obtained, it can be verified that the car does not have any charges nor issues, and additionally a history can be found of the maintenance carried out by its owner during the two years that the car circulated in the United States, this being:
In the Spanish Carfax report, only the date of importing the car to Spain, registered in July 2016, is registered.
The three reports (DGT, Carfax Spanish version and Carfax American version) will be delivered to the buyer.
Finally, we show you a video of the car starting and accelerating so that its sound and its correct operation can be appreciated.
This Hyundai Veloster Turbo is a very exclusive model, with very few units sold in Spain but which offers an outstanding performance with a very reasonable maintenance cost and a high degree of mechanical reliability.
In addition, its engine is still used today in the most current versions of Hyundai and Kia, so the knowledge of its technology and the possible need for parts in the event of a breakdown, is currently no problem in Spain.
We believe it is a good unit, if you are looking for a different hatchback, , modern, usable, with a good interior finish, advanced technological features but without giving up some more than decent performance thanks to its powerful turbo engine.
